Machine Learning

What is machine learning?

Machine learning is the use of algorithms to learn and generate new findings from a large set of data. As a science, machine learning evolved from pattern recognition and computational learning theory, and is now used to analyze large data sets and generate findings from these sets.

How does Trend Micro use machine learning?

Machine learning is a key part of Trend Micro products and technology, integrated into both products and backend. The fundamentals of machine learning have long been a part of the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network™, and used to provide the most complete protection to users against a wide variety of threats.

Trend Micro’s research efforts into machine learning are concentrated into three fields: malware processing, similarity digests, and network threats. Trend Micro researchers have spoken at various conventions and covered the following topics:

  • Malware Handling
  • Network Machine Learning
