FAQ

*NEW* You can now pay for Deep Security as a Service in the AWS Marketplace with no long term commitment or minimum fees. You can convert a free trial to a paid subscription at any time by clicking on [Account Name] > Account Details > Upgrade to paid within the service.
We also have the option to use a credit card to pay for what you use monthly. No long term commitment or minimum fees.

When you pay by the hour for Deep Security as a Service on AWS Marketplace, your costs vary based on instance size.
- Medium, small, micro 1¢/hr
- Large 3¢/hr
- Xlarge and bigger 6¢/hr
You can use the calculator above to estimate maximum monthly costs. It assumes that you are running xlarge instances at 6¢/hr and run them 24/7. Deep Security will automatically determine the size of your AWS instances when you connect your AWS account in the Deep Security console (Computers > Add AWS Account). For instances that don’t use this connector, the price will default to 6¢/hr.

Yes. While the software licensing cost for Deep Security via the AWS Marketplace is roughly equivalent to the Service, you are still on the hook for Amazon EC2 instance costs (roughly 6¢/hour/instance protected) and the database costs.
If you are already running an MS SQL or Oracle database server, you can use that for Deep Security needs (assuming there’s capacity available). Otherwise, we strongly recommend using Amazon RDS for the database back end. It’s easy to use and has a fantastic backup system.

Trend Micro offers multiple deployment options for Deep Security in AWS – Software as a Service, in AWS Marketplace and Software. We created an interactive tool to help you decide the best option for you.
Deep Security as a Service is a hosted version of Deep Security. This means less work for you with no setup or configuration required, you just deploy an agent on your workloads. Trend Micro manages the Deep Security manager, and updates and maintains the security database. Best of all you can purchase Deep Security as a Service directly through the AWS Marketplace.
The AWS Marketplace AMI is like a software deployment but provides the ability to pay per instance per hour on your AWS bill. You need to deploy and configure the Deep Security manager and security database in your own VPC allowing you to retain control of security data and traffic. However, we’ve simplified setup with a Quick Start Reference Deployment Guide.

You can now Mix annual and usage-based licenses of Deep Security as a Service through the AWS Marketplace here..
How does it work? You can continue to add as many annual licenses as you please, if you go over that amount at any time, you will be charged per hour based on the size of the instance that you are protecting.
For example, if you purchase 5 annual Deep Security as a Service licenses in January, but in March you realize that you need to burst 100 additional Large sized instances for 24 hours, you will be charged 100 x $0.03 x 24 hours = $72.00.
If you’re not sure which option is the best for you, please email us at aws@trendmicro.com and we’ll be happy to work with you to find the best option.
