This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

This Trojan does the following:

  • This executable file contains a script that automates the following steps in establishing a remote connection using VNC Viewer:
    • Fetch session parameters
    • Execution of VNC Viewer application
    • Accepting EULA
    • Confirming and closing pop-up windows
    • Input the VNC Server address
    • Connect to the VNC Server address
    • Accepting unverified signature/identity from the VNC server
    • Log in credentials for authentication
  • This script gathers the following session properties:
    • Logon account username
    • Logon account pasword
    • Target address ← VNC Server
    • Target username
    • Target password
  • This script executes the following files:
    • E:\PSM Activity\Real VNC\VNC-Viewer-6.19.1115-Windows-64bit-standalone.exe

It accepts the following parameters:

  • /ErrorStdOut
  • /AutoIt3OutputDebug
  • /AutoIt3ExecuteLine
  • /AutoIt3ExecuteScript
  • /{Commands mentioned above} /test

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
