This Ransomware arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Ransomware drops the following files:

  • {Malware Path}\Password.txt -> contains the password to be used for unlocking the system
  • {Malware Path}\Restart.txt
  • {Malware Path}\Timer.txt -> contains the time left before the system restarts

It adds the following processes:

  • shutdown /r /t 1
  • vssadmin delete shadows /all
  • ipconfig /release

This Ransomware terminates the following processes if found running in the affected system's memory:

  • Cmd
  • Taskmgr
  • Firefox
  • Edge
  • Telegram
  • Explorer
  • Chrome

Other Details

This Ransomware does the following:

  • Gives the user 30 minutes to pay before the system restarts again and executes the following command:
    • Bcdedit /delete {current}
  • The password the malware is looking for is "P4YME0101"
  • It shows the following window as a ransom note:

Step 1

Step 2

Identify and terminate files detected as Ransom.MSIL.SCREENLOCKER.A

  1. Windows Task Manager may not display all running processes. In this case, please use a third-party process viewer, preferably Process Explorer, to terminate the malware/grayware/spyware file. You may download the said tool here.
