This Rootkit connects to the following websites to send and receive information:

    • Query configuration information

    • Request for proxy settings to be written in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\AutoConfigURL
  • http://{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.4.180:2080/s
    • Query list of target IP addresses that will redirect to {BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.10.244:{BLOCKED}
    • http://{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.4.180:2080/h?
      • Ping C2
    • http://{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.4.180:2080/c
      • Query root certificate to be written in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Certificates\
    • http://{BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.4.180:2080/v?v={Version Number}&m={Hash}
      • Updates itself to latest version

    However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

    This Rootkit adds the following registry keys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
    SystemCertificates\ROOT\Certificates\
    {Certificate Name from C2 Server}

    It does the following:

    • It must be registered kernel driver service to continue with its malicious routine.
