Microsoft Internet Explorer ' ' Address Bar URI Spoofing Vulnerability
Publish Date: 01 juillet 2011
Gravité: : Medium
Identifiant(s) CVE: : CVE-2008-4787
Date du conseil: 01 juillet 2011
Description
Internet Explorer is affected by a URI-spoofing vulnerability because it fails to adequately handle specific combination of the non-breaking space character (' '). An attacker may leverage this issue to spoof the source URI of a site presented to an unsuspecting user. This may lead to a false sense of trust because the user may be presented with a source URI of a trusted site while interacting with the attacker's malicious site.
Visual truncation vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 allows remote attackers to spoof the address bar via a URL with a hostname containing many (Non-Blocking Space character) sequences, which are rendered as whitespace, aka MSRC ticket MSRC7899, a related issue to CVE-2003-1025.
