Fileless Attacks Prompt Intel’s Next-Gen Security
Discover how Trend is strengthening its endpoint solutions to detect fileless attacks earlier. By leveraging Intel Threat Detection Technology, Trend enhances the scalability and resiliency of its solutions.
As traditional malware evolves into more sophisticated, fileless attacks, the need for advanced defense mechanisms has never been more critical. We’ve seen firsthand how the threat landscape is fast evolving. In the latest Annual Cybersecurity Threat Report, Trend reported a significant surge in cyber threat activity, blocking an astounding 160 billion incidents in 2023, highlighting the need for integration solutions that take the unified platform approach.
Trend is at the forefront of this battle, integrating Intel® Threat Detection Technology (Intel® TDT) into its array of endpoint solutions. This integration, is releasing with Trend’s Worry-Free Business Solution first and will expand to Trend Apex One and Trend Vision One™ later this year. This technology complements Trend’s endpoint technology to offer unparalleled protection to our customers. This technology integration marks a significant leap forward in securing digital assets against the most elusive threats.
Intel Threat Detection Technology is a cutting-edge suite of security capabilities embedded directly into the hardware, providing a robust foundation for threat detection without compromising system performance. The technology is part of Intel Hardware Shield’s suite of security technologies that Intel vPro PCs leverage to mitigate attacks that conventional software-based solutions might miss. Fileless malware is one such technique that has become a primary method of evading detection, with a 1400% increase in 2023.
By integrating Intel TDT, Trend enhances its ability to detect fileless attacks earlier in the kill chain as it first attempts to gain a foothold in memory prior to launching adversarial attack objectives. Early detection is key to preventing lateral movement from one host PC to other users in the fleet. Intel TDT offloads the compute-intensive memory scanning from the CPU to the integrated GPU for high-throughput parallel processing. Trend achieved up to a 7-10X improvement in memory scanning capacity which enables broader regions of memory to be scanned for threats, more often, without impacting the user’s computing experience. For Trend customers, this integration translates to a host of benefits to stop the entry of a broad range of attacks, including ransomware, that commonly leverages fileless entry techniques. In today's digital age, where downtime or data breaches can result in significant financial and reputational damage, this proactive stance against emerging threats is invaluable. Furthermore, by leveraging Intel's hardware-based detection, Trend can offer a more scalable and resilient security solution that adapts to the evolving threat landscape, ensuring that customers' defenses remain robust over time.
As we look to the future, the collaboration between Trend and Intel exemplifies the kind of collaboration that will redefine cybersecurity. By harnessing the power of Intel Threat Detection Technology, Trend is not just improving its security offerings—it's setting a new standard for the industry. For businesses and individuals alike, this means greater peace of mind in an increasingly uncertain digital world. In the ongoing battle against cyber threats, Trend solutions that are used in conjunction with Intel powered devices, stand as a beacon of innovation and protection.
