This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Trojan adds the following mutexes to ensure that only one of its copies runs at any one time:

  • prkMtx

NOTES:

This Trojan requires its other component to successfully perform its intended routines.

It checks for current user privileges and attempts to elevate privileges if the user has no admin rights. It uses the command line to execute {Malware Path}\Presentation\Show.exe. It loads a DLL component {Malware Path}\Presentation\show.dll, detected as TROJ_EQUATED.SMB. It checks registry if BitDefender or Comodo is installed in the system.

It does not execute if the date is after July 1, 2010.
