Fox News, a popular American news channel, is currently being used as a front for a 'work-at-home' scam. Email message such as this one lure people to read a supposedly legitimate article with a true to life story of a successful mother who spends her spare time on computer without selling anything.

The spammed message we spotted bore the subject, BREAKING NEWS: Real story of success and contains a link which supposedly points to a success story article. In actual, the URL points to a rogue Finance Reports website with a screenshot of a check amounting to $8,795 highlighted as a sample to tease readers that the program being featured is indeed legitimate. The article also listed three short steps on how to take advantage of this opportunity starting off by filling out a basic online form which, if readers provide information, could lead to multiple privacy risks.

Furthermore, down below the article, the spammers managed to create a number of comments which, if carefully reviewed, were just all planted to make the whole article more believable. Trend Micro protects users from this threat via its Smart Protection Network by blocking the spammed message and all-related URLs. There are similar types of spammed message circulating the Internet that has the same goal - to attract innocent people to an easy-money scheme online. As such, users should be more vigilant when it comes to joining income generating campaigns online and sharing their private information to these entities.
