LimeWire, the popular peer-to-peer sharing website, was officially shut down last year. Months later, spammed messages purportedly from a LimeWireinsider are still making the online rounds. The email informs recipients about the shutdown ordered by theUS Federal Courtand offers them an alternative LimeWire software, which can be downloaded from an embedded link.

The said link was found to be malicious but is already inaccessible as of this writing. Just the same, users should exercise caution when opening email messages from unknown senders. It is also best to refrain from clicking unverified links and to immediately delete such messages.
