Autostart Technique

This file infector adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

File Infection

This file infector infects the following files:

NOTES:

It checks if the file %Windows%\wscript.exe exists. If it finds the said file, it creates a copy of itself as %System%\Kernel.dll.

If the file %Windows%\wscript.exe is not found, it drops a copy of itself as %Windows%\System\Kernel32.dll.

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 3

Restore this file from backup only Microsoft-related files will be restored. If this malware/grayware also deleted files related to programs that are not from Microsoft, please reinstall those programs on you computer again.

Step 4

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to clean files detected as VBS_REDLOF.A. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files. NOTES:
There is no need to manually restore FOLDER.HTT, since it can already be restored by scanning the infected system with Trend Micro antivirus.
