Arrival Details

This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following files:

  • {Parent folder of the default excel save location}\calc.exe → copy of %System%\rundll32.exe

(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\System32 on all Windows operating system versions.)

It adds the following processes:

  • {Parent folder of the default excel save location}\calc.exe {Parent folder of the default excel save location}\{Random}.,#1 /q

Download Routine

This Trojan connects to the following website(s) to download and execute a malicious file:

  • https://{BLOCKED}mi.com

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • {Parent folder of the default excel save location}\{Random}.

As of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

Other Details

This Trojan does the following:

  • It lures the user to click "APRI" (translates as "OPEN") enabling macro content:

Step 1
