Installation
This Trojan adds the following processes:
- %System%\conhost.exe %COMSpeC% à¿ /V/D/c "mD C:\If1ZR8Y\>nul 2>&1 &&S^eT QFEU=C:\If1ZR8Y\^If1ZR8Y.^jS&&echo var IBUM='Hts+DHts+EHts+" → creates directory without any message
It creates the following folders:
- C:\If1ZR8Y\ → after the execution of the malicious lnk file

This Trojan saves the files it downloads using the following names:
- {Download path}\Webwhats42738348419.39330.zip

Other Details
This Trojan does the following:
- The downloaded zip file contains the following files:
- Webwhats427383396.156333.12855.pdf.lnk → fileless attack
- Webwhats427383396.156333.12855.jpg → backup of the .lnk file
- If this Trojan runs in a Chrome browser, it will disable the following:
- Security features in handling quarantined and / or suspicious files
- Chrome Sandbox services
- GPU Sandboxing
- It adds itself as an entry to the browser's suggested site configuration.
SOLUTION
Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Note that not all files, folders, and registry keys and entries are installed on your computer during this malware's/spyware's/grayware's execution. This may be due to incomplete installation or other operating system conditions. If you do not find the same files/folders/registry information, please proceed to the next step.

Search and delete these folders

Step 4
Search and delete these files

Step 5
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as Trojan.HTML.WEBWHATS.A.
