It accesses websites to download files. This action allows this malware to possibly add other malware on the affected computer. It executes downloaded files whose malicious routines are exhibited by the affected system.

It modifies the affected system's HOSTS files. This prevents users from accessing certain websites.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:

  • %System%\C0NIMEO.EXE

(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\System32 on Windows NT and 2000, or C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP and Server 2003.)

Autostart Technique

This Trojan adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

This Trojan accesses websites to download the following files:

    HOSTS File Modification

    This Trojan modifies the affected system's HOSTS files to prevent a user from accessing the following websites:

    Step 4

    Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_PACKED.DHI.
