- TSPY_FAREIT.UX
It may be downloaded from the following remote sites:
- http://{BLOCKED}lake.com/ngY.exe
- http://{BLOCKED}.5.170/PXVYGJx.exe
Installation
This Trojan executes then deletes itself afterward.
It injects codes into the following process(es):
- msiexec.exe
Download Routine
This Trojan connects to the following URL(s) to download its component file(s):
- http://{BLOCKED}.131.151/uploading/id={random value}&u={random string}
As of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.
SOLUTION
Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Remove the malware/grayware file that dropped/downloaded TROJ_MEDFOS.COC
- TSPY_FAREIT.UX
Step 3
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_MEDFOS.COC. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
