WIMMIE is a family of Trojans that have the capability to drop and execute malicious VBS files. These VBS files can perform different commands of remote malicious users.

Upon execution, WIMMIE variants open a non-malicious dropped file in order to hide their malicious routines from users.

This Trojan drops the following files:

  • {malware path}\Ten Great Tips For Each Day.pdf
  • %User Temp%\maritimemaster.kilu.org_test.exe
  • %User Temp%\temp.vbs

(Note: %User Temp% is the current user's Temp folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Temp on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Temp on Windows Vista and 7.)
