This Trojan may be dropped by the following malware:
- PE_SALITY
This malware arrives via the following means:
- This is executed by a malicious LNK file detected by Trend Micro as EXPL_CPLNK.SM
NOTES:
This Trojan arrives on the system using the following name:
- {random file name}.tmp
It contains the encyrpted copy of the mother file of PE_SALITY.
It drops the mother file using the following name:
- %User Temp%\{random filename}.exe - detected as PE_SALITY.ER-O
It executes the dropped file. As a result, malicious routines of the dropped files are exhibited on the affected system.
SOLUTION
Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 3
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to clean files detected as TROJ_SALITY.SM. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
