Installation

This Ransomware drops the following files:

  • {Target Directory}\EGG.txt
  • {Malware Path}\EGG\EGG.txt

It creates the following folders:

  • {Malware Path}\EGG

Process Termination

This Ransomware terminates the following processes if found running in the affected system's memory:

  • explorer.exe
  • Steam.exe
  • Skype.exe
  • ts3client_win64

This Ransomware displays the following message boxes:



It does the following:

  • Does not encrypt files. Instead, it creates a file with the same filename as the targeted files and appends the .EGG extension
  • Displays the following after execution:
  • Prevents the user from shutting down the machine
  • Terminates the task manager if it is used to close the malware

Step 1

  1. Windows Task Manager may not display all running processes. In this case, please use a third-party process viewer, preferably Process Explorer, to terminate the malware/grayware/spyware file. You may download the said tool here.
