This hacking tool arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

NOTES:

It is a command-line hacking tool that reads the password file (/etc/passwd) of a server running a UNIX or Unix-like systems.

It exploits the following vulnerability to execute shell commands on a remote server specified in its command line:

Upon successfully exploiting this vulnerability, the following shell command is executed in the remote server to list the contents of the password file:

  • a=`/bin/cat /etc/passwd`;echo "a: $a"

If the password file contains "root" or "bin/bash", it displays the following message:

  • target possible have bug under is *nix passwd file{the actual contents of the password file)

If the password file neither contains "root" nor "bin/bash", it displays the following message instead:

  • possible dont have bug! or have a waf!
