It logs a user's keystrokes to steal information.
It does not send out the information it steals.
It deletes the initially executed copy of itself.

This spyware arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Installation
This spyware drops the following files:
- %System%\{random file name 1}.dll - also detected as TSPY_KEYLOG.OFP
- %System%\{random file name 2}.dat - encrypted file
(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System32.)
Other System Modifications
This spyware modifies the following registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\AppMgmt\Parameters
ServiceDll = "%System%\{random file name 1}.dll"
(Note: The default value data of the said registry entry is "%System%\appmgmts.dll".)
Dropping Routine
This spyware drops the following file(s), which it uses for its keylogging routine:
- %Windows%\Temp\{random file name 3}.tmp - contains encrypted key logs
(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, which is usually C:\Windows.)
Information Theft
This spyware logs a user's keystrokes to steal information.

Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TSPY_KEYLOG.OFP
Step 3
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Restore this modified registry value
Important: Editing the Windows Registry incorrectly can lead to irreversible system malfunction. Please do this step only if you know how or you can ask assistance from your system administrator. Else, check this Microsoft article first before modifying your computer's registry.
- In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AppMgmt\Parameters
- From: ServiceDll = "%System%\{random file name 1}.dll"
To: ServiceDll = %System%\appmgmts.dll
- From: ServiceDll = "%System%\{random file name 1}.dll"
Step 5
Search and delete this file
- %System%\{random file name 2}.dat
- %Windows%\Temp\{random file name 3}.tmp

Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as TSPY_KEYLOG.OFP. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
