Installation

This Trojan drops and executes the following files:

  • %User Temp%\explorer.exe - non-malicious file

(Note: %User Temp% is the current user's Temp folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Temp on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003.)

Other Details

This Trojan does the following:

  • It queries if the following registry is present on the affected system:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\360Safe\safemon
  • If so, it adds the following entries under the said key:
  • IEProtAccess = 0
  • IEProtNotify = 0
  • It also executes the legitimate file %Windows%\explorer.exe upon execution.

(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, which is usually C:\Windows or C:\WINNT.)

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
