This is the Trend Micro detection for:

  • Shortcut files that attempt to exploit a vulnerablity in Windows Shell that could allow execution of arbitrary commands.

It does the following:

  • It tends to execute the dropped copy of its main component malware. This .LNK file is usually dropped in removable drives using random file names.

Step 1

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Step 2

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as LNK_DLOADR.SMA.
