Spammers Leverage European Football Games Forecast

 Analysis by: Jona Pereira

Trend Micro researchers spotted spammed messages that promote a certain European Football forecasting site. It bore the subject Football forecasts and urges the recipients to click on the link and to avail of the services the site offers. The commercial spam has two variants: one is plain text and the other is in HTML format. The researchers also saw websites where users can place their bets.

Once users click on the link, they are lead to a suspicious site before being redirected to an actual football forecasting site. Users are advised to be wary of opening email messages from unknown senders. It is advisable that they type the URL of the site they wish to visit into the address bar, rather than relying on a link from an email message.
