Propagation

This worm drops the following copy(ies) of itself in all removable drives:

  • {drive letter}:\{random folder name}\{random filename}.js

The said .INF file contains the following strings:

{garbage characters}
[autorun]
{garbage characters}
shell\open\command={random folder name}\{random filename}.js
{garbage characters}
shellexecute={random folder name}\{random filename}.js
{garbage characters}
open={random folder name}\{random filename}.js

As of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

Other Details

This worm connects to the following URL(s) to check for an Internet connection:

  • http://google.com

It drops the following file(s)/component(s):

  • %System Root%\{random folder name}\{random filename} - nonmalicious

(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)

NOTES:

It does not perform its intended routine if it is running in a Virtual Machine.

It creates LNK files in removable drives using names of exisiting folders in removable drives. The LNK file opens the dropped malware copy as well as the original folder.

The attribute of the original folders are set to hidden.

The following added registry entry disables user's access to the Control Panel:
