This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

This Trojan accesses the following websites to download files:

  • https://{BLOCKED}in.com/raw/V7fgvQRT

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • /bin/httpdns

Other Details

This Trojan does the following:

  • Trojan used the following set of commands for the scheduled task:
    • C sed -i '$d' /etc/crontab && echo -e \"\n0 */1 * * * root /bin/sh /bin/httpdns\" >> /etc/crontab
  • The trojan set the downloaded file as scheduled task to run every hour.

NOTES:

The Trojan downloads a file and is saved as "/bin/httpdns" which is executed to connect to a URL "https://{BLOCKED}in.com/raw/gC0QiNsw" containing the bash script. The bash script contains the schedule task and the coinminer itself.
