Autostart Technique

This Trojan is a .DLL file that adds the following services:

  • Service Name: Dncp
  • Display Name: Dncp Client
  • Binary Path: %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
  • Startup Type: SERVICE_AUTO_START
  • Account: LocalSystem

It is a .DLL file that adds the following services:

netsvcs
Dncp = ""

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\Dncp\Parameters
ServiceDll = "{malware path}\McAltLib.dll"

Backdoor Routine

This Trojan connects to the following URL(s) to send and receive commands from a remote malicious user:

  • {BLOCKED}anbox.org:22

Information Theft

This Trojan steals the following information:

  • Username
  • Hostname
  • MAC Address
  • IP Address
  • CPU Information
  • IE User Agent

Other Details

Based on analysis of the codes, it has the following capabilities:

  • Steal information
  • Remote Control
  • Download malware

However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

It uses the following exports to download further plugins from the remote server:

  • StartWorker
  • StopWorker

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Note that not all files, folders, and registry keys and entries are installed on your computer during this malware's/spyware's/grayware's execution. This may be due to incomplete installation or other operating system conditions. If you do not find the same files/folders/registry information, please proceed to the next step.

Step 3

Restart in Safe Mode, and then delete this registry key
