OVERVIEW
This Trojan the 64-bit version of ZACCESS rootkit. It attempts to bypass Windows UAC (User Account Control) by creating an instance of a legitimate explorer.exe and injecting its code into the said process. Once running, it downloads and executes its component from a randomly generated domain.
This Trojan may be unknowingly downloaded by a user while visiting malicious websites.

Installation
This Trojan injects codes into the following process(es):
- Explorer.exe
NOTES:
This is the 64-bit version of ZACCESS rootkit. It attempts to bypass Windows UAC (User Account Control) by creating an instance of a legitimate explorer.exe and injecting its code into the said process. Once running, it downloads and executes its component from a randomly generated domain with the following format:
- {domain}/stat2.php?w={number}&i={string}&a=13
As a result, the routines of the downloaded component are also exhibited in the system.
SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as RTKT_ZACCESS.KBF
Step 3
Identify and delete files detected as RTKT_ZACCESS.KBF using the Recovery Console
Step 4
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as RTKT_ZACCESS.KBF. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
