Several Dating Spammed Messages Lead to Malicious Link

 Analysis by: Ediste dela Cruz

Looking for a partner online may lead to one’s true love but it can also lead a user to a malicious link, or worse, malware. Trend Micro has seen several spammed messages from a sender who claims to be looking for her “Mister Perfect.” The message contains an ''eye-catching' description of the sender and ends with a link to the sender's site, where the recipient could supposedly see the sender's picture. When clicked, the URL leads to the downloading of a possibly malicious file.

Note that the spammed messages may vary in format and appearance but the goal remains the same: to trick users into clicking the malicious links in the message. As a precaution, users should refrain from opening email messages from unknown senders.
