New Spam Mail Targets Skype, MSN, and Hotmail Users

 Analysis by: Chloe Ordonia

A non-English spammed message is taking advantage of the Skype, MSN, and Hotmail service merger. This message asks recipients to click a link to download an authorization certificate to prevent account cancellation. The downloaded archived file contains a malicious file, now detected by Trend Micro.

To keep from being victim to this threat, users should refrain from opening, downloading, or clicking on links from unexpected email messages. They should be aware that cybercriminals also use legitimate services and company names for their social engineering campaigns.
