OVERVIEW
It is an encrypted configuration file that is used by the WORM_QAKBOT family. Once decrypted, it contains the following:
- reference to the components and their corresponding random file names in the system
- P2P node IRC data (port, nick, password)
- FTP hosts (upload sites)
- configuration file version
- infection logs
This backdoor may be downloaded from remote sites by other malware.

Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Remove malware files dropped/downloaded by BKDR_QAKCFG.AD
- WORM_QAKBOT family
Step 3
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as BKDR_QAKCFG.AD. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
