This Trojan accesses the following websites to download files:

  • http://m.{BLOCKED}eavy.ru/m
    • redirects to http://master.dl.sourceforge.net/project/tradingfiles/111/m

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • {removable drive letter}:\Thumbs.db - (encrypted file) WORM_ENCMARUE.LJG

NOTES:
This Trojan arrives in removable drives as desktop.INI. It decrypts Thumbs.DB and saves the decrypted file as follows:

  • %System Root%\MSI\TrustedInstaller.exe - WORM_GAMARUE.LJG

It then executes the decrypted file.

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Step 2

Remove malware/grayware files dropped/downloaded by TROJ_GAMARUE.RMA

    • WORM_GAMARUE.LJG
    • WORM_ENCMARUE.LJG

Step 3

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_GAMARUE.RMA. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
