This Trojan does the following:
- It runs using the following arguments:
- task - yields tasklist
- reverse_https addr/fqdn:port - tests STARTability of meterpreter
- load reg - tests LOADability of binary through registry
- load http(s)://site/bin - tests LOADability of binary directly
- run reg [configspace] - loads binary, patches it and runs it through registry
- run https(s)://site/bin [configspace] - loads binary, patches it and runs it directly
- (configspace is passed by patching binary image)
- It may be used by another malware which will also be the one to pass down an argument.
SOLUTION
Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_INJECT.MTKR. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
