OVERVIEW
This Trojan may be downloaded by other malware/grayware/spyware from remote sites. It may be unknowingly downloaded by a user while visiting malicious websites. It may be hosted on a website and run when a user accesses the said website.
It connects to certain websites to send and receive information. However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
Arrival Details
This Trojan may be downloaded by other malware/grayware/spyware from remote sites.
It may be unknowingly downloaded by a user while visiting malicious websites.
It may be hosted on a website and run when a user accesses the said website.
Installation
This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %System%\{Random file name}.exe
(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\System32 on Windows NT and 2000, or C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP and Server 2003.)
It injects itself into the following processes as part of its memory residency routine:
- csrss.exe
Autostart Technique
This Trojan adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\
userinit.exe
Debugger = "{Random file name}.exe"
Other System Modifications
This Trojan adds the following registry entries as part of its installation routine:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\
Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Internet Settings
ProxyEnable = dword:00000000
Other Details
This Trojan connects to the following website to send and receive information:
- {BLOCKED}45501.cn
However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.
NOTES:
It may also download an updated copy of itself from the said web site.
SOLUTION
Step 1
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.
Step 2
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TROJ_BEBLO.SMM

Restart in Safe Mode
Step 4
Delete this registry key

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as TROJ_BEBLO.SMM.
