Our engineers recently spotted an increase in commercial spam that used microsized salad words as a way to bypass spam filters. The spam came in different variants, advertising websites featuring different promotions, products and services (weight loss, grocery coupons, used cars, etc). Most of the samples sport links to the websites they themselves advertise, and each link is verified to be non-malicious. However, the fact that these spam emails could have easily been malicious (whether by sporting links that lead to malicious sites or come attached with malware) warrants users warned about them. Another point to consider is that the IPs that these mails have been sent from seem to be completely new - which means that the parties behind this may soon resort to malicious spam.

As always, users are reminded never to open spam mails or mails from unfamiliar senders.
