This term refers to a specific file in a software or computer system that is required for a specific function. Trend Micro antivirus products detect and remove components used by malware. Example of components are text (.TXT) files that are downloaded by ZBOT/ZEUS malware. These files are known as configuration files. These files, though not harmful on its own, are used by ZBOT/ZEUS to check what banks and/or financial institutions it will monitor.
