Conversation Guide

Useful questions and answers to help you guide the conversation with kids

Why is it important to eat healthy, exercise, brush our teeth and get plenty of sleep?

Healthy habits are things that we do that are good for us. They keep us fit and heathy, both our body and mind. (It’s a great way to avoid the doctor and the dentist too).

What would you do if you shared something online that you regretted later?

Delete from the app or ask a grown up to help you remove it. It is so important to think before we share anything online so that we don’t ever regret sharing something.

Before you share something online; ask yourself ‘Would I want the whole world to see this?’ or you could ask ‘How will my family and friends feel if I post this?’

What is a digital footprint?

Everything we do online leaves a digital trail or digital footprint. It’s like a recording of everything that we do. Even a message to a friend has a date and time stamp, and even if you delete the message later there is still a record of you posting it and then deleting it.

What we do and share online tells others what kind of a person we are. That’s why it is so important to always do things online that are positive, helpful, and safe.

What would you do if someone else shared something online about you online that you did not like? (Comment/photo/Video)

You could ask the person to remove/delete it or ask a grown up for help. It’s so important to always ask for permission before you share something about someone else online. Others will learn from you and hopefully ask you for your permission too!

Has anyone ever looked themselves up online?

If someone did a search about you online, what would they find? Remember our digital footprint and being positive, helpful, and safe online? It’s important. (This could be a fun exercise for classroom or at home.)

Share an example of something new that you have learned using the internet.

Coding, cooking, playing guitar, learning songs, learning a new language, researching something that you are interested in. The internet is a great place to learn new things.

How does the internet help others in the world?

Raising funds for a good cause in your community; {Offer a local example to help the students}. Being able to attend School Online, being able to chat to friends and family online.

Have you ever used the internet to use your talents?

You can enter competitions for art, videos, coding, writing. It is a great way to show others your talents and to celebrate achievements too. Always check with a parent, teacher or guardian first before you enter.

How often would you take regular breaks when you are online?

Remember healthy habits are things that we do that are good for us. They keep us fit and heathy, both our body and mind. Stretching, putting down a device, moving, exercising, and going outside are important.

How could you help family and friends practice healthy habits online?

Showing family at home what you have learned in this episode would be a great start. As you discover more healthy habits online share them with others!
