NTT DOCOMO and Trend Micro Protect IoT Devices with Cloud-Based Security Services

Providing “DOCOMO Cloud Platform Network Security Service” with Trend Micro VNFS1

Trend Micro VNFS (Virtual Network Function Suite) is now enhanced to Trend Micro Mobile Network Security as network security for NFV with adding functions for endpoint protection, also joint defense of those.

Challenges

  • While DOCOMO and its customers begin to switch over to faster 5G networks, an increase in attacks targeting devices and an increase in threats from infected devices is expected.
  • When these customers implement security on their DOCOMO Cloud Platform2, they are required to set their security functions individually, leading to possible vulnerabilities.
 

Solutions

  • In the technical verification of DOCOMO 5G Open Cloud™3, Trend Micro VNFS was found effective as a network security solution for the 5G era.
  • Through Trend Micro VNFS solution, security functions such as “unauthorized access detection” and “block between device and DOCOMO Cloud Platform” were implemented.
  • By enhancing network security on their Cloud Platform, DOCOMO is equipped with long-term security for devices while being able to reduce the cost of security measures for their customers.
