Trend Micro is a proud supporter of Safer Internet Day (SID), taking place across the globe on 6 February. The values that the day promotes – protection, empowerment and respect – very much align with our own Internet Safety for Kids and Families (ISKF) programme.
Our outreach has reached millions of parents, educators, students and older adults over the past 15 years. Initiatives like SID and ISKF are a great opportunity to create a digital world for the future, made up by respect, awareness, safety and digital literacy.
Last year was another busy year for the ISKF team. Alongside the resources we offer from our dedicated website, Trenders are always keen to get out into the local community to spread the internet safety message. More recently we
- Launched a social media campaign designed to reach educators and teachers via LinkedIn
- Spent an afternoon at the St Marylebone CE School to help the kinds understand what a career in tech might look like
- Held a careers fair and parents’ coffee morning in Marylebone Boys’ School
- Held a careers fair in Westminster College
- Engaged with the students at King Solomon Academy to share our advice and expertise
We also sponsor various outreach initiatives across the country and the world, all with the same goal: to build a safer and mor respectful internet.
We’ve come a long way since the first Safer Internet Day 20 years ago. Now the initiative is celebrated in around 180 countries around the world. We’ll continue to promote this fantastic event, and double down on our own efforts to get kids and families thinking more clearly about internet safety.
We might have reached nearly five million of them globally so far. But there’s always more to do.
