Providing end-to-end protection for healthcare
A near 15-year relationship with Trend Micro has helped keep patients, employees and key IT systems safe and secure.

Like all healthcare organisations (HCOs), Nuffield Health has had a challenging pandemic. Yet as Head of Enabling IT at Nuffield Health, Ed Moss has the significant burden of securing networks, servers, storage and endpoints across 300 sites and for tens of thousands of employees and contractors.
Fortunately, a near 15-year relationship with Trend Micro has helped keep patients, employees and key IT systems safe and secure.
Keeping legacy IT safe
Nuffield Health’s relationship with Trend Micro began back in 2007, when it consolidated endpoint security onto OfficeScan (now Apex One). However, it has grown over the years to include runtime workloads (Deep Security), network-based advanced threat protection (Deep Discovery Inspector (DDI)), Office 365 emails (Cloud App Security) and managed detection and response (Managed XDR Service).
Like many HCOs, Nuffield Health has to manage multiple legacy systems in its hospitals, ensuring they remain protected without interrupting vital services. That’s where Deep Security’s virtual patching has been a “huge win” for the charity, according to Ed. It offers multi-layered intrusion prevention to keep vulnerable systems secure from known and unknown threats — either until an official patch can be deployed, or to keep legacy kit safe.
Cloud-first security
One of the more recent successes has been Trend Micro Vision OneTM, offering our customers XDR capabilities and more. Thanks to the managed detection and response service, Ed and his team are able to focus on the things that matter, safe in the knowledge that Trend experts have threat detection and response covered. It provides them with enhanced risk visibility and optimised response across their networks.
As Nuffield Health has embarked on digital transformation over the past 18 months, with migration to Azure and cloud-based replacements for its legacy apps, Trend Micro has been there every step of the way. Our SaaS deployment options and close integration with leading cloud providers help customers in healthcare and beyond future-proof their digital investments.
In an age of rapid change and surging threats, that’s just what the doctor ordered.
