Understanding Your Risk Score
What is the Risk Score?
Your Risk score is a comprehensive metric generated by the Trend Vision One™ platform. Presented as an integer between 0-100, it is a dynamic assessment of your organization’s security posture. Learn more here.
How is it Calculated?
Our algorithm calculates the likelihood of a breach in your environment and how severe the impact of that potential breach may be. The higher the score, the higher the chance of a costly breach in your organization.
Why is it Important?
Understanding your risk score empowers proactive decision-making about your security, enables targeted measures to address vulnerabilities, and strengthens your overall resilience against cyber threats. It provides the ability to compare yourself to companies of similar size or industry. Learn more here.
Reducing your Risk
To effectively manage and reduce your risk score, follow these steps:
Set a Risk Reduction Goal
To begin, go to the Operation’s Dashboard (ATTACK SURFACE RISK MANAGEMENT → OPERATIONS DASHBOARD), and click on “Select a Goal”. You’ll be prompted with the Risk Reduction Goal dialog box, where you can view the available options and select which one will be the most effective in helping reduce your Risk Index.
View Risk Events Summary
With your goal set, you can review the types and quantities of assets impacted by risk events. The column “Remediation steps” will recommend next actions.
Identify Impacted Assets
Impacted assets will populate on this page. Click on “Risk event” to see which assets are most affected and prioritize accordingly to begin lowering your risk score.
Track and Update your Status
Track your remediation progress by changing the status of risk events to "New", "In progress", "Remediated", "Dismissed", or "Accepted". This will update individual asset risk scores and your overall Risk Index.
To update your Risk Status go to ATTACK SURFACE RISK MANAGEMENT → OPERATIONS DASHBOARD. Scroll down to Risk Reduction Measures and select the event to update.
Select the assets you want to edit and select from the Change Status dropdown menu.
(Note: This cannot be done for XDR risk events)
Review All Actionable Risk Events
Regularly check all identified risk events from the last 30 days using the “View all risk events” button and address the recommended remediation actions to continuously manage and lower your risk.
