- Trend Micro Canada’s First Data Centre to Launch in Toronto
Toronto, July 21, 2020: Today, Trend Micro, a leader in global cybersecurity solutions, announced the opening of its first Canada data centre, located in Toronto. While a number of businesses consider outsourcing complex security tasks, many are concerned about their sensitive data leaving the country. Canada’s very own locally managed datacenter service solves this data sovereignty issue.
“More than ever, Canadian organizations feel the need to keep data close to home,” said Marcia Sequeria, Canada Country Manager at Trend Micro. “We have already seen public sector institutions in some provinces that have voluntarily implemented data residency practices in preparation for future legislation within their region, and we’re responding to that.”
Beyond data residency practices for normal cloud providers, Trend Micro recognized the need to provide Canadian organizations the option to house their security for endpoints, Office 365, G Suite, and other cloud services inside our borders. Trend Micro Cloud App Security & Apex One provides better visibility for clients to identify what’s out there. BEC, ransomware, and email protection all work together to provide peace of mind that organizations are protected here in Canada.
“We were looking for a partner with a proven track record and reliable security model. Trend Micro™ Cloud App Security identifies and eliminates threats in our Microsoft® Office 365® protection, providing peace of mind that our users are protected,” said Shawn Ismail, CTO of WIS International.
With this offering, Canadian customers now have the option to maintain their protection for endpoints in Canada by leveraging the new localized data centre. The expansion of the company’s services comes at a time when organizations that are concerned about legislation and privacy. “Our partnership with Trend Micro is built on effective, innovative tools coupled with their reliability and dedicated support,” said Chris Pratapas, Director of Security Business Development at Softchoice Canada. “The new data centre in Canada is a great example to their commitment to Canadian business.”
