This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following files:

  • %UserTemp%\(randomfilename).tmp\(randomfilename).tmp\(randomfilename).ps1 <--- Deleted afterwards
    • This powershell deletes %Temp%\cross.exe

(Note: %Temp% is the Windows temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\Temp on all Windows operating system versions.)

It creates the following folders:

  • %UserTemp%\(randomfilename).tmp
  • %UserTemp%\(randomfilename).tmp\(randomfilename).tmp

Dropping Routine

This Trojan executes the dropped file. As a result, malicious routines of the dropped file are exhibited on the affected system.
