Trend Micro Security Extended to Microsoft Edge Browser in Market First

Comprehensive protection for Windows 10 in S Mode

SYDNEY, November 22, 2018 – Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704TSE: 4704), a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, today announced Trend Micro Security for Microsoft Edge. This world first app provides consumers with an additional layer of security for Windows 10 in S mode devices sold across Australia and New Zealand by extending the protection of Trend Micro’s flagship multi-device consumer security solution, Trend Micro Maximum Security.

Australians have lost over $51 million to email, internet and social networking scams in 2018 alone, and cybercriminals see the Internet as an attractive access point to contact, trick and prey on unsuspecting consumers. Trend Micro Security makes browsing safer and more enjoyable on operating systems such as Windows 10 and is the world’s first Windows 10 in S Mode security solution sold through retail, reinforcing Trend Micro’s leadership and commitment to providing the most comprehensive protection across every aspect of consumers’ digital lives.

“Everyday consumers are expected to remember a multitude of passwords, are interrupted by annoying and intrusive ads and are faced with “device agnostic” threats such as phishing and identity theft scams,” said Tim Falinski, APAC Senior Director, Consumer for Trend Micro.

“All of these factors affect the way consumers go online and the experience they have. It’s important that security underpins all online activity, and with Trend Micro Security for Microsoft Edge, consumers will be have a greater peace of mind that they are protected – however they choose to go online.”

“I see security as playing an important part of the complete package for any new PC or device sale. With an increasing proportion of new PCs now including Windows 10 in S mode, it has become essential for customers to have a compatible security solution, such as Trend Micro Security, when purchasing these new devices in store and online.” said Glen Gregory, Harvey Norman National Business Manager.

The Trend Micro Security Edge Extension provides enhanced protection to Microsoft Edge, the default web browser available on Windows 10 in S mode, and has the following features:

  • Web Threat Protection:
Innovative cloud based security provides an extra layer of advanced protection against modern, device agnostic web threats such as phishing, banking and technical support scams and identity theft.
  • Password Manager:
Sailpoint’s 2018 Market Pulse Survey found that Australians have poor password hygiene, with four in five Australian respondents reusing passwords across different accounts. The easy to use password manager capability in Trend Micro Security removes the complexity of having to remember multiple passwords and helps consumers create, manage and securely store strong passwords and sync them across multiple devices (PCs, Macs, mobile devices) for instant access whenever they need them most.
  • Ad-Blocking:
Trend Micro Security also blocks annoying, intrusive ads for faster site loading and a better web browsing experience.

“It’s been great to work side by side with Trend Micro, to expand the ecosystem of security applications in the Microsoft Store to include “Trend Micro Security” for Windows 10 users, particularly those using devices in S mode. This application provides an additional layer of protection to keep customers safe and secure.” said Darin Fish, Partner Group Program Manager, Microsoft.

Trend Micro Security for Microsoft Edge is available now for new and current Trend Micro Maximum Security customers as part of their license, and is also available via the Microsoft App store.
