Arrival Details
This worm arrives by connecting affected removable drives to a system.
It may arrive via network shares.
It arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Installation
This worm drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %System Root%\RECYCLER\{SID}\{random}.exe
(Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)
It creates the following folders:
- %System Root%\RECYCLER\{SID}

It injects codes into the following process(es):
- explorer.exe

This worm adds the following registry entries to enable its automatic execution at every system startup:

Backdoor Routine
This worm connects to the following websites to send and receive information:
- {BLOCKED}r.zaberhmar.com
- dq.{BLOCKED}mes7.com
NOTES:
It may also arrive via MSN Messenger.
It is capable of executing the following commands:
- Download and execute file
- Update itself
- Uninstall itself
- Propagate itself via MSN Messenger by sending messages containing a link where a copy of itself may be downloaded.
- Propagate via USB drives
- Propagate itself via shared folders and P2P networks by dropping copies of itself to the following folders:

Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Identify and delete files detected as WORM_PALEVO.IC using the Recovery Console
Step 3
Search and delete these folders
Step 4
Delete this registry value

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product to delete files detected as WORM_PALEVO.IC.
