Here’s a question from a Trend Micro Titanium customer that we pulled off our Fearless Web Facebook page recently and asked Vic respond to:

Thanks for the question, Michelle. Based on the description of your problem there may be a couple of things going on.
You may have a virus that made its way onto your system, presumably before you installed Titanium or possibly when it was disabled for some reason. So the first thing I recommend you do is a full system scan then remove any malware that is uncovered.
If the alerts persist then another possibility is that your data loss prevention component may be misconfigured. You can check your settings using this procedure:
- Open the Titanium control panel
- Click on Tools.
- Click on Data Theft Protection. Michelle, this should say “On” in your case.
- Look to see if you actually have credit card checking enabled. If so, you might want to disable this feature. The reason
is that if you shop actively on the Internet at places where you enter your credit card number each time, this type of DLP checking will block you from doing so. You can always enable it again later if the sites where youshop store your credit card number. - To disable credit card checking, remove the text in the box to the right of this category under the What to Protect column.
- Click OK.
Getting back to step 4 for a second, data loss prevention is a wonderful feature for preventing information that you want to keep private from leaving your computer. It’s also handy for preventing your kids from using certain objectionable words or phrases on the web. Just enter the words you don’t want your kids to use with the Titanium software on their computers and then they can’t enter them in any website screen. Of course, make sure you password protect the Titanium settings, so they can’t open the control panel and undo these settings.
