THE CHALLENGE
Transforming smart home security with technology and security
robot home Co. Inc. is committed to “transforming housing and changing the world with technology” and “becoming a world-leading technology company, realizing a sustainable society through real estate investment.” The civil engineering firm employs innovative real estate solutions, creates new businesses, enhances customer experiences via DX strategies, and collaborates with partners.
As cyberattacks grow more sophisticated, robot home has prioritized building a robust security system, establishing unified security standards across subsidiaries, and enhancing countermeasures through training and awareness initiatives. Recognizing the need for proactive security measures, the company has focused on visualizing risks within its environment.
"It is easier than I imagined to see that the risk value is displayed at this number, and it is very easy to use the risk value to clarify the next action."
THE SOLUTION
Boosting security with risk visibility and quantified risk scoring
Although robot home had implemented endpoint detection and response (EDR) primarily for threat protection, they still had concerns about achieving comprehensive risk management and maintaining continuous visibility and response. These concerns led them to consider Trend Vision One Cyber Risk Exposure Management (CREM) for a more robust solution.
By implementing cyber risk exposure management, robot home gained comprehensive visibility into organizational risks, including application vulnerabilities. The company can monitor terminals where applications are installed and track patch application status, significantly enhancing its understanding of risks.
robot home leverages the Trend Micro Cyber Risk Index when approving application use. As communication tools like Slack, which aggregate various information and have high external link capabilities, score highly, Trend Vision One™ helps robot home certify and operate them as standard software, balancing risk acceptance with operational needs.
We would like to continue to utilize Trend Micro’s CREM as a mechanism to provide integrated visibility into the entire system.

RESULTS
Reducing workload burden via cyber risk exposure management
robot home’s dashboard visualization identifies devices with vulnerabilities and their users, requesting appropriate responses, and monitoring the situation. Before implementing CREM, the specific risks posed by vulnerabilities were not quantitatively understood. “It is easier than I imagined to see that the risk value is displayed at this number, and it is very easy to use the risk value to clarify the next action,” says robot home’s Mr. Takasugi.
Monthly internal compliance committee meetings share the company’s risk status, increasing security awareness. CREM is utilized during weekly checks and alert responses, comparing the company’s risk score to industry standards. This has led robot home to cut its initial risk score by 50%. The solution’s device-specific scoring page has proven invaluable, helping guide security measures.
NEXT STEPS
Maintaining a risk score below the industry standard
Moving forward, robot home aims to use CREM reports to share detailed risk values with relevant parties.
“In addition to measures with security functions provided by cloud vendors in cloud environments such as AWS, we would like to continue to utilize Trend Micro’s CREM as a mechanism to provide integrated visibility into the entire system,” concludes robot home’s Mr. Oki.
