 Analysis by: Mary Aquino

Scams abound in cyberspace most especially during annual sporting events, such as the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. This time, a scam related to the 2011 International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup was spotted. The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup began in mid-February and will end in early April. Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka are hosting this event.

This recent sample contains a message that promises its recipients a 'big prize' if they can guess who the Cricket World Cup champion will be. The sample uses a forged email address, while the message also contains URLs which lead users to view screenshots of the said sporting event's trophy.
