EndemolShine Netherlands, part of the EndemolShine Group, is the largest independent television and digital content producer in the Netherlands. The company develops content for every platform and genre and has 700 employees, many of who are temporary.

All employees must be able to work safely, and feel confident that the company’s intellectual property is protected. In such a dynamic environment, proactively securing data and systems is a challenge. To strengthen the grip on the security of endpoints and data, EndemolShine was looking for an integrated security solution, including antimalware, endpoint security, data encryption, and mobile security. “We have a small IT department with limited capacity. Therefore, we do not want lose security solutions, but need a complete suite that is centrally manageable,” explained Leon Backbier, ICT manager.

During a proof-of-concept, Trend Micro highlighted the advantages of an integrated, centrally managed solution. “We work according to the ‘management by exception principle’. This means that we rely on the tools we use and are kept informed about potential threats 24/7,” said Backbier.

The Smart Protection Complete Suite offers a complete and detailed picture of our security through the Trend Micro Control Manager™ solution. We always know exactly what is going on. If deviant behavior is detected, we receive a warning and can take the right preventative action.

Although EndemolShine strives for complete security, they do not want it to have an impact on the performance of the systems and people. “The video editing systems with which we make our programs always have to work optimally. The security must not affect the performance,” explained Backbier. “If people notice that the security software causes delays or downtime, they are more likely to take risks. With Trend Micro, installation is simple and it takes place centrally, so users don’t experience a change in performance.”

In addition to end-to-end data encryption, Trend Micro also provides data loss prevention (DLP). “We always have a complete picture of our data, demonstrating that we are in control, which helps us to meet the requirements of the GDPR,” says Backbier.

EndemolShine is constantly evolving and looking forward, especially when it comes to security. “Wherever possible, we implement cloud solutions, such as Microsoft® Office 365®. However, this makes our environment very diverse,” said Backbier. With Trend Micro, the entire environment, from cloud services to workstations, is well protected. By encrypting the data with Smart Protection Complete, for example, EndemolShine avoids data leakage in the event of theft or loss of smartphones or tablets.

The rollout of Trend Micro solutions was very positive. “The Smart Protection Complete Suite meets our expectations and provides complete and intelligent security,” said Backbier. Smart Protection Complete allows EndemolShine to concentrate on their core activities and proactively informs them about the latest developments and dangers. “The confidence that Trend Micro has built up at EndemolShine is very apparent,” explained Backbier.

EndemolShine is excited to have completed the rollout of Trend Micro solutions in the Netherlands, and looks to begin implementation across the entire EndemolShine Group.
