Nissin Electric Co. Ltd., a major electrical equipment manufacturer in Japan, recently deployed Trend Micro™ Safe Lock™ to protect their manufacturing plants’ control systems.
“Increasingly, monitoring and control systems are connected to company networks, so there is a higher risk of getting a virus infection via work PCs or USB drives,” said Hiroki Sumida of Nissin Electric’s Environmental Business Division.
To minimize these risks, Nissin Electric implemented Trend Micro™ Safe Lock™ on all their systems to protect them from viruses without impeding performance.
“We tested for impact on processing performance and we could not tell which environment Trend Micro™ Safe Lock™ had been installed on as there was almost no difference,” said Yoshihiro Nishida of Nissin Electric’s Environment Business Division.
“We consider Trend Micro™ Safe Lock™ antivirus capability to be one of the fundamental security requirements demanded by our customers and the market,” said Sumida Hiroki, the Group Head of Nissin Electric’s Development Department.
Today, before any monitoring and control system ships to customers, Nissin also uses Trend Micro™ Portable Security 2™ to scan the system and confirm that it contains no viruses.
