Suzuki adopts Trend Micro™ Portable Security™ 2 to build a secure industrial control system

As Suzuki’s global production and sales continue to grow, so do their concerns about the security of terminals at development and manufacturing sites, particularly in closed environments.

“We have to protect our terminals from virus threats to maintain stable operations. We have focused on the implementation and enhancement of security measures that are suited to actual work sites. However, we encountered a bottleneck: terminals in a closed environment cannot be protected by general security measures”, said Shinichi Ido of Suzuki’s IT Planning Department.

To overcome this problem, Suzuki deployed Trend Micro™ Portable Security™ 2, a USB flash drive solution that finds and removes viruses from terminals in closed environments, and from terminals that prohibit software installations.

Ido added, “We believe that Trend Micro™ Portable Security™ 2 provides the latest security measures for our terminals, even in a closed environment. The tool has an LED light that lets us know the result of a virus scan by turning red for detection, yellow for cleanup, and blue for safe. This allows anyone to easily use the tool.”

Since adopting Trend Micro™ Portable Security™ 2, Suzuki now plans to strengthen their security measures further by adding Trend Micro Safe Lock™.
